MaxRax^® Wildlife Nutrition, Inc is a specialized wildlife feed and nutrition consulting company dedicated to servicing deer breeders and hunters since its emergence over a decade ago. MaxRax^® White-tailed Deer, Elk and Exotic, pelleted feeds are designed to maximize body growth, promote extreme antler production and horn development, increase immune function, and accelerate sexual maturity, while improving conception rate in whitetail deer, elk and exotic hoofstock.

First developed on the Diamond D Ranch in Junction, Texas, the ranch, was used as the primary research facility for MaxRax^® feed products by applying the latest, and scientifically documented technology for use in wildlife nutrition. Family owned and operated, the 650 acre research facility was recognized in 2003 as one of the top breeding facilities in the nation by numerous private breeding and hunting ranches, U.S. Fish & Wildlife and the U.S. Department of the Interior. In 1999, the first ton of MaxRax^® Deer and Exotic pellets was manufactured by Behrends Feed & Fertilizer, in Lukenbach, Texas. The purpose of the original 16% complete protein pellet was to be nutritionally adequate to meet the various nutritional requirements of over 20 carefully selected exotic and indigenous ruminant species. This was no easy task, but after twelve fascinating months; a remarkable difference in improved body condition, antler/horn growth, and greater reproductive success (increased conception rates, greater fawn survival rate) was observed in multiple indigenous and exotic species. The unbelievable results sparked interest leading to advanced nutritional studies and the immediate implementation of numerous researched based feeding trials. Today, MaxRax^® Wildlife Nutrition, Inc still continues feed and nutrition based research in several U.S. locations to accurately consider the influence of numerous environmental factors such as weather, temperature, browse, light exposure and genetics associated with nutrition and animal performance.

The success of MaxRax^® Deer and Exotic pellets rests not only in ingredient selection and quality, but also in fixed formulations (feed formulas do not change) specifically balanced for an animal’s specific production stage. Depending on the production stage, animal requirements for energy, protein, fats, vitamins and minerals can vary considerably. Most deer and exotic animals require copious amounts of energy in certain production stages such as body, antler/horn and fetal growth. MaxRax^® Wildlife Nutrition, Inc., formulates rations with safe and effective energy concentrations for everyday energy demands. For antler growth specifically, feed rations are always formulated with high energy grains and superior quality proteins to promote an increase in antler production. However, energy and protein should not be the only nutrients considered in wildlife ruminant feeds, especially Whitetail Deer feeds. Research studies have reported that protein and mineral antler concentrations during growth will range between 20-48% protein and 51-80% minerals (dependent on stage of growth and section of antler analyzed). Due to the high mineral density and specific mineral ratios found within the antler, MaxRax’s^® Formula 500 Technology utilizes Zinpro^TM chelated minerals to promote greater mineral absorption within the small intestine. Diets are also formulated with the correct ratios of macro minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and sulfur as well as trace minerals, including copper, zinc, manganese, and selenium. The end result is additional mineral deposition within the antler leading to greater antler mass, more points and impressive tine length! In addition to protein, energy and minerals, particular attention has also been given to appropriate fiber sources and fiber concentrations within the diet. Fibrous material is extremely important to maintain a healthy rumen environment for animals in a confined area, not subject to normal browsing behavior.

Through extensive research, MaxRax^® Wildlife Nutrition, Inc. has developed numerous feed rations to efficiently and effectively meet the nutritional demands of wildlife ruminants in all stages of growth and production. Each and every highly palatable ration is correctly balanced for the correct protein concentration, energy demands, effective fiber concentrations for rumen health, fats for more energy and hormone production, and vitamins and minerals for optimal immune function. Because overall animal health is always a critical part to optimal reproduction, immune function and antler/horn growth, ALL MaxRax^® feeds include direct-fed microbials (probiotics) for intestinal health, yeast cultures for greater fiber degradation/utilization, and digestive enzymes to increase feed digestion and reduce waste. MaxRax’s^® properly balanced wildlife feeds can help to naturally increase an animal’s immune response to pathogens by providing key nutrients to the immune system. This preventative measure and nutritional based approach to alleviate negative health implications from viral infections may now be an alternate technique to decrease individual death loss and increase viral resistance within a herd.

Various rations include the original 16% MaxRax^® for Deer, Elk & Exotics, 17% MaxRax^® Plus for maximum antler growth in Deer and Elk during the antler growing season (Generally mid Feb-end Aug), 20% FawnMax & Lactating Doe Feed for both gestating/lactating does or fawns, and 16% HornMax for African Hoofstock and other horned animals.
